Breaking your shot. If you have not heard this phrase before it is the point at which your shot “breaks”. The instant the trigger drops the hammer to strike the firing pin and send the round down range.
This should not come as a “surprise.” You do not need the surprise of a shot break to prevent yourself from anticipating a shot. If you are shooting at a moving target you need to know exactly when your shot will break to time it correctly.
Having a familiarity with your shot break is also critical to precise shots in alternate positions where a completely stable position is not an option. There will always be sight wobble in unstable positions but that can be compensated for by learning your body’s natural “wobble” which is generally a figure 8.
