  1. I had a particularly bad reaction to poison oak earlier this summer. I got a small scratch on my arm while doing yard work. A few days later this scratch began to get itchy, then a couple days after that the pink rash started popping up. I was pushing through it, just an itchy rash after all, and used the relief methods you mentioned above….. That was until a day or two later when I woke up with my eyes swollen shut. Off to the doc I went. The scratch had allowed it to get into my blood, and an infection had set in around the fatty tissue surrounding my eyes. This tissue leads back to the brain, so if I had continued to suck it up and push on without seeking medical treatment I may have ended up in hospital with a brain infection.
