One only needs look at the news from a local, regional, state, national, or international level to be able to discern that we are all headed for a shit-storm of ‘perfect’ proportions. Some say it will be World War III; some say it will be a Civil War in the USA (a true Civil War where one side or the other will achieve government legitimacy, not where one side is trying only to leave the compact); some say it will be an EMP event brought about by enemies of the USA; some say it will be a natural catastrophe.
Anyway you cut it, something bad is on it’s way. One only needs to look at what’s happening in Ukraine to see how easily things can spiral out of anyone’s control in a balkanized area where two or more ideologies inhabit the same meat space. Facts support that the USA has become balkanized far beyond anything it has experienced before and that the tinder box of political and ideological differences only need the right spark to set things off.
Think about that as you look at these pictures from Ukraine. When (short of Divine Intervention) it happens here, you’ll see these kinds of images (and worse) up close.
If and when these things come here, no matter what causes the conflagration, your ability to protect your family, friends, and neighborhood will in large part be dependent upon what you’re capable of physically. This subject has been dealt will all across the blogosphere, most recently by Max Velocity here. And as usual, there are some whose feelings get hurt because of how harshly they take wise admonition to get off one’s ever-widening ass and start the long, hard journey of making sure you are doing all you can. All it takes is your willingness and dedication. Just like the rest of us. Here’s a key graf from Max’s post:
“In my opinion, the two main impediments to survival and freedom in our current state are:
- Lack of training.
- Lack of PT.
Training and subsequent real life missions cannot be effective without a decent level of PT, so this all boils down to the key main impediment to freedom:
- Lack of PT.
Which boils down to:
- Lack of mental determination and intestinal fortitude.
Put down the cheeseburger and Doritos, and get out and do some PT!”
If you’re upset or butthurt at reading this or think the comparisons of dead body pictures to what may occur here is overly harsh or vulgar, perhaps filling out a ‘butthurt’ form might help. Why say that? Because that’s about all the sympathy one who feels that way is deserving of, really.
The harsh reality of life, or not being able to sustain your life is this: You can have all the best intentions, spend thousands upon thousands on preps, ammo, rifles, pistols, packs, etc, but if you can’t carry what you need without stroking out in 50 yards, all you are is RESUPPLY for those you are probably trying to avoid or fight.
Now, get yourself to a school. This one, Max’s, JC’s, Grenadier 1’s, Daybreak’s or Mosby’s. And while you’re reprioritizing your funds, decrease the intake of processed foods and soda, and increase the amount of time spent working your body.
We have a class for Essential Skills coming up 7 – 10 August. Drop us a line and we’ll get you registered. Max has classes scheduled for various levels of expertise all the way through December, if you’re near the other school houses, drop them a note. If you can’t travel, ask them if they can come to you. I’m betting something can be worked out.
