Preparedness. A way of life that ensures when (not “if”) something happens out of the ordinary, like what’s going on in the South now, or the major ‘deep freeze’ going on in the North, that you and yours will be ‘ok’ much longer than those who just hop in the car and go.

If you’re at home and you don’t have your home in order to go without shopping for any item you may need from bread to toilet paper, this is what you may find when/if you get to the store. And that doesn’t count for ‘price rationing’, which is the raising of prices to ensure people buy only what they need (sometimes wrongly confused as ‘price gouging’ by people who don’t understand supply and demand economics):
And good luck trying to get home on foot with just your street shoes and coat.
